Papa Shango The Farce Awakens was how this gig was advertised with a fantastic poster all Star Wars themed with loads of photos of the band members (As there’s plenty of them!) We were in for a whole new set list to as announced via Facebook, The Half Moon in Bishops Stortford did not know what to expect from this lot tonight. I certainly did as I’ve been following Papa Shango for many years ever since their first appearance at the Stortford Music Festival 2011.
You’re probably wondering who on earth is Papa Shango, well this is how they explain themselves “A circus rock act with mayhem and madness guaranteed to leave jaws dropped.” – You’ll see from the photos how their shows pan out.
On first of all opening for Papa Shango were cowboy gimmick band The Real Mckoys who take 80’s ballads and turn them in to punk rock classics.
The Half Moon filled to the brim before Papa Shango took to the stage. It was a great atmosphere all in all and the new songs Papa Shango showcased were definitely approved by the crowd and myself. They are one hell of a live band and I’m sure you’ll see them up and down the country in a venue near you soon.
